Stagglet Update

Well... I have been feeling (and looking as those of you who've seen me recently know) VERY pregnant as of late and have been ordered by my midwife & hubby to take it easy. Advice that I did indeed follow in the last week and I feel so much better. I was sore, real cranky, and exhausted. As a result of not trying to cram so much in, I have nothing to post and no pictures. All that I have done is play with Bitty, laundry, cook, and take naps. This weekend, I will try to get Eric to take some belly photos.

The weather this May has been absolute crap. It has rained everyday here for two weeks straight and the temp hasn't really risen above 65. My garden is at a standstill, everything is wet, and I think we might start molding if the sun & heat doesn't show itself soon. Eastern Washington, classified as an arid desert, seems to have joined the gray, rainy ranks of the Seattle area. YUCK. However, it has been conducive to staying inside, relaxing, and snuggling up for naptime!

Kristin (the midwife) came for a visit yesterday. She said that I have dropped, but the Stagglet has not yet engaged in my pelvis. I am having TONS of Braxton-Hicks contractions and a few real contractions as well, but nothing that makes me think I'll kick into labor immediately. What do I know? But, I don't think it will happen for another week, at the very least. I'll keep you posted!

Playdate

My pal, Dana, and her daughter, Salome, came for a visit/playdate. I forgot to post pictures... here they are!
Bitty & Miss Salome snacking away, notice the chipmunk cheeks on the pair of them. It was as if there were a contest over snacks.

Playing with rocks seems to be a favorite and, Lord knows, I really enjoy cleaning them off the patio and out of the lawn!

Chasing. bubbles

Run!!! The bubbles might get you.

Thanks Aunty Staci

These are not very good photos, but they get the point across.
Room decor... here's Bitty's favorite photo and a card that Aunty Staci made her. She thinks it's her in the photo and not Aunty Staci as a little person.

My half-starved looking child and her new pictures that, OF COURSE, Aunty Staci made. They are hung a little to high to be perfectly aesthetically pleasing, however this keeps her from dragging them off the wall and onto her head. She loves them.

... and... the ever-talented Aunty Staci made this string of letters and picked out these photo frames for Bitty's room as well. Bitty looks at them & says "Tanks, Lettahs, Aunty Staci."

Stanley, Nana, & Bitty

Mom had a horsey show this last weekend when we visited. Adelaide and I drove over to visit. The Bitty was enthralled.

Nana & Bitty

This is Dillin, MaryJo's horse. Mom is trying to hold Bitty and the horse and failing miserably.

Here we are at Nana's trailer. Bitty is thoroughly enjoying herself.

Grandad

My dad is the kind of grandparent that says... "who cares if we're 10 minutes from eating dinner, let's give the kid a cookie the size of her head, and some ice cream, too!"
(to his credit, this was after dinner - after I loudly protested he was not allowed to feed it to her beforehand)

He made a batch of the world's most delicious sugar cookies and the one he made special for Bitty was bigger than her face. Needless to say, Grandad is popular with AddyLouHoo.

cheap entertainment

Isn't just great how easily intrigued the little person's mind is? Adelaide LOVES this big box full of peanuts. I do believe she was in there for an hour and a half before she came out. While I was able to accomplish the task I was busied by, it took three days and help from Trudi to clean up the mess she made with the peanuts.

Mama's Day

It was a lovely day. Eric made me his most fabulous french toast, bacon, and some fresh sliced fruit for breakfast. We were joined by Bob & Trudi, who brought me a bunch of really gorgeous begonias for my super shady front porch. Subsequently, I got to go to Yellow Rose Nursery... a most fabulous place!
She really looks like she's enjoying my affectionate gesture, huh?

When it was time to go... Bitty insisted on returning the plant wagon and on her own. We have entered the "I'll do it - and by myself, thank you very much" stage.

Who knew pulling a wagon could be so entertaining?

The pots in front of my house are HUGE. I did not want to have to buy a yard of potting soil, so Eric's dad suggested we fill them most of the way up with packing peanuts, lay down a cloth, and top with potting soil - genius, Bob! Bitty insisted on getting in the box and squishing peanuts, she was heartily entertained for quite some time.

Mow the Lawn, Eric!

Adelaide has taken to calling Eric by his name, here and there. She does this either for emphasis or when she thinks he is not listening. A few quotes (Can you hear me, naggy-wife, in these phrases?), "Get off the phone Eric," "Cut it out, daddy, CUT IT OUT, Eric!," and "Eric, mow the lawn."

I wasn't feeling well and Eric was being ordered to mow the lawn, so he strapped Bitty to his back, gave her some ear protection (he's big on ear protection, as he has lost a fair bit of hearing from loud machinery), and they were on their way! She loved it.

I don't whether or not he could hear her, but she chatted to him nearly the entire time.

First Harvest

This is the first crop from our 2010 garden. Radishes!!! Adelaide was trying to eat them before I was even able to wash the dirt off of them. We planted three varieties; Cherry Belles (round red), Helios Yellow (round, off-yellow), and French Breakfast (long, red & white). They are so very delicious.

I believe the best way to eat a radish is in the French fashion. You take the radish, twirl it slightly in unsalted butter, and then lightly dip the radish in Kosher salt, subsequently crunch away and enjoy! Scrump-didily-umptious.

Hooray for garden fare!

Apple Blossom

This past weekend we journeyed to Ephrata for a visit to Grandad, Nana, Stan-e-ley, Ruby, the cows, Aunty Staci, & Boss. (These were the important persons & animals as listed by Miss Bitty in the days before going). Staci decided that AddyLouHoo needed to have her first corndog, funnel cake, & parade - so we loaded up and headed to Wenatchee's Apple Blossom Festival Parade.

... and I quote, "I'm ready Mama." You might try turning those over sweetheart, they'll stop falling of your face!

Giant (footlong) corndog and mustard, hhhhmmmmmm.

Yum!

Whipping cream, "puh-lease." (That's how she pronounces, please. Thank you comes out "Tank-oo."

Where's the floats and princesses?

Fun with Aunty Staci.
